What is the ADA? The Americans with Disabilities Act ADA gives federal civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities similar to those provided to individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age, and religion. It guarantees equal opportunity for individuals with disabilities in public accommodations, employment, transportation, state and local government services, and telecommunications. An individual is considered to have a "disability" if he or she has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, has a record of such an impairment, or is regarded as having such an impairment.
Thank you for printing this from the City of Raleigh's Official Website www. The health and safety of GoRaleigh Access customers and employees remain our top priority.

GoRaleigh Access requests that all clients observe social distancing and limit their trips to those that are essential, such as medical appointments, trips to the grocery store, and other essential errands. GoRaleigh Access will also suspend fares during this time. The TSA requires proper wearing of face masksper federal law. Face masks are to be worn at all times. Failure to comply will result in denial of boarding or removal, and may in penalties.
Exemptions include those with a disability who cannot wear a mask, or cannot safely wear a mask because of the disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act. GoRaleigh Access provides transportation for persons with disabilities who have already completed the application and evaluation process.
The City of Raleigh provides transportation services for people with disabilities. GoRaleigh Access formerly Accessible Raleigh Transportation enables eligible persons to access public transportation.
The ADA mandates that each public entity operating a fixed route transit system provide complementary paratransit service to individuals whose functional disabilities prevent use of accessible fixed route bus and rail systems. The level of service for these individuals is to be comparable to the level of service provided to individuals without disabilities.
The paratransit service is intended to be comparable to the fixed route system in specific listed criteria such as days and hours of service, fares, service area, response time, etc. Other eligibility requirements may apply.
Once this is done, city staff will follow up with the ADA visitor regarding their request. To apply, download an application or call to request an application be mailed to you. Part A must be filled out by the applicant and Part B must be ed by a physician or human services agency official.
